Humanitarian Missions

The Educational Foundation of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons is pleased to provide financial support for Canadian Residents to participate in surgical missions throughout the world. This funding rotates among the Canadian Plastic Surgery training programs to allow each program the opportunity to participate.

The amount of the funding is $2,500.00 paid directly to the mission organizers. One or more missions will be funded each year, depending on available funds and priority is given to PGY 4 or 5 residents.

How to Submit a Request

Residents applying for mission funding should do so in writing including:

• Details of the mission organization, purpose, dates, destination and the applicant's expected year of training completion. Applications should be forwarded with a recommendation from the Program Director to admin@plasticsurgery.ca. 
• Please use the following email subject line: Humanitarian Missions – [Program Name], [Resident Name]

When to Submit a Request

Mission applications must be received by the first of April of each year. 

Application Review

Requests will be reviewed by the Educational Foundation Board and grant recipients will be announced at the CSPS Annual Scientific Meeting.

Payment Requirements

The amount of the funding is $2,500.00 paid directly to the mission organizers. When requesting payment, please include the banking information required to process an e-transfer.

Payment Timeline

Payment will be issued by e-transfer within 30 days of receipt of all required documentation.
