Job Description / Duties

The University of British Columbia Division of Plastic Surgery offers a 11-month Hand & Microsurgery Fellowship.

The fellowship offers a comprehensive exposure to adult elective and trauma hand and wrist surgery, as well as some exposure to pediatric hand surgery. Areas of subspecialty exposure include brachial plexus and nerve transfer surgery, tetraplegia surgery and management of the rheumatoid hand and wrist. Fellowships are based at the Vancouver based hospitals of the University of British Columbia. The fellowship provides a broad base of hand and wrist surgery from 6 dedicated hand surgeons, but particularly provides a high volume of nerve transfer
surgery and advanced microsurgical extremity reconstruction.

The focus of the microsurgery portion of the Fellowship is trunk and extremity reconstruction following trauma and oncologic extirpation. If applicants have specific interest in Head & Neck Reconstruction following oncologic management access to these activities are potentially available.

Requirements:
Financial support for this fellowship requires that the applicant be eligible for licensure (Canadian trained) in British Columbia.

Qualifications / Required Skills

British Columbia.
Successful completion of a Royal College or American Board Certified Plastic Surgery Program or equivalent is
required.
Successful completion of the IELTS exam if language of instruction and practice during medical school and
residency was not in English. A passing grade must be obtained prior to submission of the fellowship
application.
